Description

Chondroitinase AC-1 degrades chondroitin sulphates A and C but is not active on dermatan sulphate (chondroitin sulphate B).

The package size for the Chondroitinase AC enzymes is defined in International Units (IU) – one international unit is “the amount of enzyme that will liberate 1.0 μmole of product per minute from chondroitin sulphate substrate at 25º C” (Product is unsaturated saccharides)

Specificity

Chondroitinase AC-1 cleaves sulphated and non-sulphated polysaccharides regions of CS A and CS C yielding mostly disaccharides and fewer oligosaccharides containing unsaturated uronic acids, detectable by UV spectroscopy (232 nm).
